Education and Training

Academic: Teaching and Learning

I lead the postgraduate Design Management cluster of courses at University for the Creative Arts (UCA), which recently moved from Farnham to Epsom. These are: MA Design and Strategy, MA Innovation and Brand Management and MA Creative Enterprise. The courses are dedicated to furthering the theory and practice of design management through interdisciplinary working methods, and investigating how the underlying strategies, processes and relationships between design, innovation, branding and creative entrepreneurship contribute to good business.

The courses are continually developed to reflect key trends in design, society, business and culture. I use ‘Design Management’ as a core text. The book is also used as a key text in other modern design and management courses at design and business schools throughout the world.

Other associated activities on the courses:

In 2007, along with Martin Bouette and David Kirby, we made a succesful bid to the Higher Education Entrepreneurship Group (HEEG) for the funding of a collaboration between UCA and the University of Surrey on ‘Promoting Creativity and Entrepreneurship through Professional Collaborations for Higher Education Students’. Held at Farnham Castle, this project enabled postgraduate students in engineering, science, management and the creative arts to connect with entrepreneurship and to promote and stimulate cross-disciplinary innovation.
